Hi, I'm Brett Briggs — Tintype Photographer in Salt Lake City

Every portrait I make is a wet plate collodion tintype — a photograph on a black metal plate, hand-poured in the studio and developed in front of you. You watch the image appear, and the plate is yours to keep.

I've been making photographs and prints for over 20 years, twelve of them as a commercial and editorial photographer, along with years as an Art Director and Producer. I still take that work on. These days most of my camera time goes to slower, more methodical portraits, made one plate at a time on a very large format camera, here in Salt Lake City, Utah.
